AYLUS Roslyn Volunteers at the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County’s Group Home (49th) on July 19th, 2025

On Saturday July 19th, 2025 from 1:00-4:00 PM, AYLUS Roslyn volunteered at one of CP Nassau’s many residential houses. We began the day with an introduction of ourselves as it has been a while since we have been to the house. The first activity of the day was baking. We prepared a very delicious brownie recipe that wasn’t too sweet for the residents. Each resident assisted us in the making of these brownies and it was super fun seeing them enjoying themselves. While we baked the brownies, we decided to do another activity. We asked the residents what arts and crafts they liked and they all chose to use stencils to color onto a wooden board. We helped the residents color and hold the stencils and the final results looked very beautiful. By the time we finished coloring, the brownies had finished baking and were already cooled down. We equally separated the brownies so that everyone could appreciate their hard work. After everyone was full we decided to go on a walk but then we realized that going on a walk right after eating could cause stomach aches so we played UNO instead. After playing UNO for a little bit we went outside on a walk since it wasn’t super hot outside and wasn’t raining. Nearby there was a park so we decided to stop by and enjoy the sunshine. We even got to see a river. The residents really enjoyed going on the walk and seeing the river. There were people fishing and the residents even got to see a turtle. Eventually we had to go back due to the time but we were so happy to be able to create new memories with the wonderful residents of CP Nassau. We hope to be able to come back soon!
