AYLUS Great Neck Branch volunteers for Great Neck Park District (41st) 7/20/25

On Sunday, July 20th, members of the AYLUS Great Neck Branch dedicated their time to volunteering at Kings Point Park, assisting the Great Neck Park District with the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the public space. The morning began with the team gathering near the park entrance, where they received instructions from park staff before dividing into two groups to tackle different tasks. The first, smaller group focused on leveling the woodchips surrounding the bathroom areas in the back of the park, ensuring a smooth and even surface for park visitors. They carefully redistributed the woodchips, filling in uneven spots. Meanwhile, the second, larger group ventured further into the park to address the trails, where tire tracks and foot traffic had left uneven indentations in the dirt and woodchip paths. Working methodically, they redistributed soil and woodchips to restore the trails to a safer, more even condition. Once the first group completed their assignment near the bathrooms, they rejoined the others along the trails, combining efforts to maximize efficiency. For the remainder of their volunteer shift, the team worked diligently. The AYLUS Great Neck Branch remains committed to supporting local environmental initiatives, and this volunteer session was yet another example of their dedication to community service. Through teamwork and persistence, they helped preserve the natural beauty and trails of Kings Point Park for all to enjoy.
