On Friday, June 20, 2025, beginning around 9:30 and ending 12:45, Newtown AYLUS members volunteered at TASK, Trenton Area Soup Kitchen. During this, they performed tasks such as preparing and packaging food as well as distributing it to its patrons.
AYLUS members arrived at the kitchen and got dressed, putting on aprons, hairnets, and gloves to handle food. They began by packing foods such as breads and pastries into plastic bags to be handed out. They also sprayed and wiped down the tables in the venue. Next, they placed to-go meals into brown paper bags along with utensils to be handed out later. Lastly, the members split up into different groups with differing tasks, some tasked with handing out the take out foods, others at the salad bar, two managing the food waste, and the rest left to serve the food to the guests.
Overall, the event was a success. The guests were all served and received food and proper care. Thanks to our amazing members who stayed loyal and hardworking throughout the entire 3 hours!
AYLUS members who participated are: Melinda He (3 hours), Ryan He (3 hours), Eric Chen (3 hours), Justin Peng (3 hours), Vincent Tang (3 hours), Daniel Tang (3 hours), Zhenyi Zhang (3 hours), Kylee Guo (3 hours) and Amber Yuan (2.5 hours).
