Newtown AYLUS Volunteers at FabLab LEGO Camp

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, members of the Newtown Branch of AYLUS dedicated their time from 1:45 PM to 4:15 PM volunteering at the FabLab Center (One Ivybrook Blvd. Ste 190, Warminster, PA). FabLab is a STEAM learning center where children and youth of all ages are able to explore various technologies and skills related to science, engineering, art, and math.

3 volunteers helped a group of around 20 students to put together various creative and unique structures using LEGO bricks. The students also combined their LEGO creations with Dash robots that they controlled using code and controls. The volunteers kept an eye out on the students as they problem solved, helping them out with technological difficulties or malfunctioning equipment. The volunteers ensured that the students had a smooth camp experience and were always engaged with their task at hand. In addition to aiding the students, our volunteers organized the devices for the next day and also helped move shipped packages.

The event was very successful, with students being satisfied with their LEGO creations and having fun. The students all built upon their skills of engineering and innovation, and received enthusiastic help from our volunteers whenever they needed it.

Members who participated were Justin Peng (Event Leader), Eric Chen, and Diana Zhang, all for 2.5 hours.
