On Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM EST, the Newtown Branch of AYLUS (Alliance of Youth Leaders in the United States) provided volunteer support at the Bucks County Free Library – Levittown Branch. The efforts contributed meaningfully to the library’s mission of serving the community as a welcoming and engaging space for learning, exploration, and connection.
During this session, volunteers helped reshelve returned books and conducted shelf reading to ensure materials were correctly ordered and accessible. These tasks are essential to keeping the library organized, allowing patrons of all ages to find books more easily and enjoy a smoother, more enriching experience.
In addition, volunteers took time to clean up and organize the toys in the children’s section, preparing the area for continued use by young visitors. A tidy and inviting environment encourages families to engage more deeply with the library’s offerings, particularly in fostering early literacy and positive social interaction.
Volunteers also provided assistance with the library’s Children’s Summer Quest program, helping children understand and complete the various reading challenges and activities. By supporting this seasonal initiative, volunteers played a part in encouraging literacy, curiosity, and a love of reading throughout the summer months. Their presence helped make the program more accessible and enjoyable for participating children, reinforcing the library’s role as a vital educational resource in the community.
Representing the AYLUS Newtown Branch, David Soong and Edward Soong each contributed 2 hours of dedicated service to this initiative.
