AYLUS Basking Ridge Branch partnered with Semper Fi to support the Good Grief 5k fundraising event. Since 2004, Good Grief has been providing unlimited and free support to children, teens, young adults, and families after the death of a mother, father, sister, or brother through peer support programs, education, and advocacy. 5k Run and Walk is the biggest fundraising event of Good Grief. This year, about a 1200 people participate in the event.
Besides the fundraising, our members arrived at the site really early in the morning and helped with sorting the flyers, preparing the runner tag, seting up the event table, preparing the food/snacks and seting up the event signs on the field. After the set-up, our members assigned into two positions: working at the water station or being course marshals. The members in the water station prepared the cups for the runners and kept filling the cups and passing the water to the runner/walker and cheered them up. The members in the walk activities met, greeted and cheered up the runners/walkers. They also directed the runners in the right direction for the course. All the volunteers helped and stayed until the end of the event. All the funds our team raised will be used to support families in need.
