On May 18, 2025, volunteers from the AYLUS Great Neck Branch participated in a volunteer activity at Kings Point Park. The purpose of this was to make the park more accessible, and enhance the experience of those visiting.
Due to the amount of driving on the trails, many surfaces became uneven in the park. The volunteers worked on spreading wood chips onto trails, which consisted of branches, sticks, leaves, and other natural materials. This was done using tools such as rakes to lay the materials around the park, and made the trails smoother and more safe.
Beyond physical altercations to the park, this activity demonstrated teamwork between members and responsibility being taken from the entire group. A method of working in a line proved to be much more effective and productive. Overall, this approach exemplifies the importance of coordination and collaboration.
