On March 8th, the Syosset AYLUS organization volunteered at LINPI. We completed various tasks, such as making soil batches, transporting seeds into larger pouches that would later be sold for profit, and working on cleaning and sorting seeds based on their sizes using a special grainer. Transporting and sorting the seeds into the correct pouches was important since each seed came from a different plant. We also made containers with an even amount of soil, which could later be used for planting. After finishing a cart of soil, we transported it into a storage room with a filtration system that kept the soil moist, and it would later be taken care of inside another greenhouse. Sorting seeds has several benefits, such as ensuring seed viability, facilitating accurate planting, and promoting biodiversity and plant health. Overall, the Syosset AYLUS organization was very successful in helping out at the greenhouse and completed a variety of tasks to support it.
