Posted by Daniel WangOn February 2nd, AYLUS volunteers set up a booth at the 99 Ranch Market to raise money for Children’s Hospital. At the event, we sold marshmallows, food, backpacks, and more. By locating the event at the entrance of the supermarket, people will be more likely to purchase something on their way in and out of the supermarket. Our booth included cotton candy, backpacks, and balloon animals. Most people bought marshmallows and almost no one bought balloon animals and other products. Marshmallows are easy to sell and more versatile, while backpacks are a bit pricey and other products have only aesthetic value. Popularity peaked about 0.5 hours after we started. We started from 12pm to 3pm, a total of 3.5 hours. I have observed that marshmallows and balloons are more likely to attract younger people, with marshmallows being easier to sell.
