On Sunday, February 2nd, members of AYLUS Roslyn and Syosset visited the CP Nassau residents at their Bayville location.
Since the weather was too cold, the residents were moved to a smaller room instead of the usual recreational space. Though the space was limited, we adapted quickly and made sure everyone could fully participate in our planned activities. We started the day with arts and crafts, engaging the residents in coloring and decorating various designs. Some residents needed assistance, and we were more than happy to help them. Afterward, we played a variety of games including a fishing game, a few rounds of Uno, and more coloring activities for those who wanted to continue making arts and crafts. The residents enjoyed the games, and it was heartwarming to see their excitement. Volunteering at CP Nassau continues to be a rewarding experience for us. It allows us to connect with individuals with disabilities, offering companionship and support while also encouraging patience, empathy, and teamwork.
We look forward to our next visit and another opportunity to bring smiles to the residents of CP Nassau!
