On February 1, volunteers from Aylus Great Neck branch help the Nassau County Spring Gala. They worked at different group with two sections: one from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m., another one from 12PM-3PM. Morning section’s volunteers assisted in preparing the venue at the Tilles Center. They are mainly responsible for posting couplets and hanging lanterns, so that the whole venue is full of a strong festive atmosphere. The red lanterns are hung high, symbolizing the celebration of the New Year, and the couplets with beautiful connotations add a strong Chinese cultural atmosphere to the party. In addition to arranging the venue, they also help organize the venue and help the staff in charge of the painting part clean and post their works. The artworks make the venue more ornamental. Each work is full of creativity and color. They carefully post it to ensure that each painting can be clearly seen by the audience.
Afternoon section’s volunteers working on different positions. Some helped giving food, some help taking pictures for the guests photo, some wear an animal costume.
Although the three-hour volunteer work is hard, it is very meaningful. Being able to participate in the preparation of such a cultural event not only exercises our teamwork ability, but also allows us to feel the atmosphere of the festival more deeply. I hope our efforts can make this spring party more exciting, and we also look forward to participating in more similar volunteer activities in the future!
