Newtown AYLUS Volunteers at Autism Cares Foundation’s Game Night on January 10, 2025

Reported by Diana Zhang

On Friday, 1/10/2025, two members of the AYLUS Newtown Branch volunteered at the Autism Cares Foundation’s game night from 6:45 PM to 8:30 PM. The Autism Cares Foundation is an organization striving to enhance the lives of those with disabilities through enriching experiences, helpful resources, and building support systems and strong connections with others.

The volunteers spent a fun and joyful evening with the Autism Cares Foundation group members, assisting participants with playing a variety of different online video games and even playing some games themselves. They aided and played with the players patiently, fostering a friendly competitive spirit among all participants and celebrating every win as a group. Meaningful connections with all the players were made, becoming a heartwarming reminder of how mundane things, like simple video games, are the foundation of new friendships and lasting memories.

By participating in the game night, made to bring individuals together and provide a relaxed social environment for relationship-building through shared interests, volunteers enjoyed the excitement of the games played while promoting a comfortable space for relationship-building and friendly competition.

Members who participated were Diana Zhang (event leader, 1.5 hr) and Eric Chen (1.5 hr).
