On November 24, 2024, members of the Great Neck chapter of AYLUS gathered at Stepping Stone Park to prepare the garden for winter. Volunteers formed groups to remove seasonal flowers and weeds, ensuring the garden beds would be ready for the colder months. Equipped with gloves and spades, they worked carefully to uproot plants, protecting the soil and leaving the beds neat for spring planting.
After clearing the flower beds, the groups turned their attention to raking leaves scattered throughout the garden and surrounding paths. The rhythmic work brought the team together as they bagged piles of fallen leaves, leaving the area clean and well-maintained. By the end of the day, the garden was ready for winter, and the park looked refreshed. Volunteers left with a sense of pride, knowing their efforts helped preserve the space for the community to enjoy year-round.
