On 11/22/2024, we volunteered at a nonprofit called Feed My Starving Children in Richardson to pack MannaPack Rice. The nonprofit sends food to 90+ countries to feed children who otherwise cannot get an education or get out of bed. It started at 7:15 and ended at 9. The rice is made up of vitamins, vegetables, soy, and rice. Some of us scooped ingredients into bags, some of us held the bags to the funnel, some of us adjusted the weight of the bags, and the rest sealed the bags and packed them into boxes. The boxes will be shipped to feed malnourished families in Haiti. The entire room packed 125 boxes, and our table packed 24. We did various challenges throughout the session, and sadly, we did not win. We chatted while we packed rice, and before we knew it, the entire shift over.
Together with other volunteers, we packed 26,784 meals that can feed 73 kids for a year. Averagely, Aylus group packed approximately 3002 meals that can feed 8.2 kids for a year. We are very proud of what we achieved.
