On Sunday 11/17/24, from 12:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. The members of the Great Neck AYLUS branch teamed up to clean Stepping Stone park in preparation for the winter season. We were instructed to rake up dead leaves and pack them up into bags for composting. Then, we pulled weeds out of the flower beds using shovels to pick them up and bags to collect the weeds. We cleaned out the weeds from the garden to prevent them from taking the nutrients away from the other plants and also to make the garden look organized.
Finally, we went around the park with gloves and trash bags to pick up all of the garbage from around the park. All of these activities were done in teams which increased efficiency while we were having fun socializing with each other. Overall this was a productive and engaging experience which taught us the importance of teamwork while keeping the park clean and tidy all year round for everyone to enjoy.
