On the second of November, during the contained times from 9:00 to 12:00, the AYLUS Roslyn branch contributed in volunteering with NOSH Devlivers! Food pantry. Having been created from the times of the pandemic, Nosh Delivers is a non-profit organization that strives in the goal of helping others in their food insecurities.
To help in these goals, members of the Roslyn branch participated in many actions, such as restocking, helping in the preparation of the eventually to be sent out NOSH bags, distributing food out to customers, decorating lunch paper bags, etc.
As much food was distributed throughout the process, restocking was essential to this event. We restocked many foods listed like snacks, canned goods, drinks, etc. Following up, after our actions of restocks and organizational processes, decoration of lunch bags came to be our following step.As lunch bags are an option of take distributed for young ones, us members decorated these bags to fulfill the goal of creating every day impacts of sparking happiness and excitement towards children.
We then filled these bags with meals to the time occurring (meaning as in breakfast and lunch.) While some of us were assigned to these activities, numerous were assigned to others, for instance including actions of preparation. NOSH bags, bags filled with nutritional products and goods, are bags sent out containing products for meals to hundreds of families. In order to send out these bags, preparation is key. As we prepared, we created the goal of finding 150 bags, bags of pasta, and containers of applesauce, and eventually achieved this goal.
Overall, we can develop and take many takeaways from this volunteering experience. As we contribute to the goals of helping people throughout the world, we can learn how fulfilling and amazing it feels to help and make others’ days, and use this experience as an motivation for future endeavors. Not only have we found this as a motivational influence, we also developed many life skills such as cleaning, organization, and the learning of the importance of responsibility.
