On Saturday, November 1st, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, the Roslyn Branch of AYLUS volunteered with NOSH Delivers! to support a community food drive. At the food pantry, they helped distribute essential food and supplies to needy families.
NOSH Delivers, a nonprofit based in Glen Cove, fights food insecurity on Long Island’s North Shore. Established in March 2020 in response to the pandemic, the organization provides weekly “NOSH bags” packed with nutritious groceries for families struggling with access to food.
Today, volunteers worked alongside staff to organize and prepare items for the week’s distributions. Together, they packed over 100 NOSH bags filled with fresh produce like broccoli, apples, mangoes, and potatoes, making them easily accessible by unboxing and arranging. Volunteers also restocked the pantry shelves for visiting families, assisted with selections, and organized three boxes of Halloween candy into a tiny crate to save space.
This experience highlighted the importance of teamwork and clear communication. It also underscored the value of proper food handling and deepened our gratitude for our food security. We are excited to continue these efforts in the future.
