Reported by Anson Ye
On 11/2/24, members of AYLUS Syosset cooperated with members of AYLUS Great Neck at the Planting Fields Arboretum to clear up a section of the park. Members first mulched an area of the arboretum, helping to improve soil, regulate temperature, control weeds, and conserve water for the trees in that area. Then, members from both groups moved towards the back of the arboretum, using rakes and scissors to clear the area of ivy, leaves, and branches, and clean up a portion of the arboretum. This would allow new trees to be grown, promoting biodiversity and preventing the spread of invasive species.
Members who participated include (All 2.5 hours): Anson Ye, Vincent Ye, Alyssa Huang, Jonathan Bao, Justin Lin, Kingston Lu, Darren Gao, Yuqi Nie, Bryan Wan, Michael Qiao, Benson Lam, Haoyu Qiu, Haodong Wang, Karen Wang, Jensen Wei, Haohua Wang, and Isabella Huang.
