On October 20th, we made pet toys out of old shirts for the animal shelter at Russell Creek Park. Half of us knew how to make them and half of us learned today. We cut the shirts into strips and braided them together. For some of us, it took very long, as the cloth strips just seemed to tangle. Eventually, everyone made 2, for a total of 14 toys. The event lasted from 3 to 5 pm. We cleaned up afterward, and all materials were returned to each volunteer’s home. We learned that helping pets and people can be frustrating, but it is rewarding in the end.
