AYLUS Roslyn Readies Children for School by Volunteering with Supplies for Success (1st) on August 18, 2024

On Sunday, August 18th, 2024, from 1pm to 3pm EST, AYLUS Roslyn volunteered for Sid Jacobson JCC. Sid Jacobson JCC has partnered up with Supplies for Success to service children with the supplies they need for their academics. Sid Jacobson JCC and Supplies for Success’s main goal is to assist the children who are less fortunate with the result that their families do not have to worry about buying them school supplies and can pay their utility bills and food instead.
The volunteers were split into three groups, one group was supplies for pre-k through second grade, another group was for third grade through fifth grade, and the last group was sixth grade through twelfth grade. We had to set up the supplies and inventory on tables for the event taking place on Monday. The supplies that were needed to set up were backpacks, folders, binders, notebooks, pencils, markers, rulers, pencil cases, highlighters, glue, paper and colored pencils. To set them up we had to open the boxes and put each item on the table in order. The volunteers also got complimentary snacks for helping JCC. We learned from this event that helping others in need can do good for the world and make it a better place.
