Fairfax Branch – Volunteer at the Clock Tower Thrift Shop 8/11/2024

On Sunday, August 11th, 2024, AYLUS co-presidents Hanna Xue and William Tian volunteered at the Clock Tower Thrift Shop in Falls Church, VA.

The Clock Tower Thrift Shop is a special program part of an organization known as Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS), a non-profit dedicated to serving individuals of diverse communities in Arlington County, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, Prince William County, and the City of Alexandria. They offer a variety of services and resources to guide people to their greatest capacity. The thrift shop takes donations from people and resells them at a lower, more affordable price, to improve the quality of life for everyone.

NVFS has multiple services available, including Early Childhood Development, Foster Care & Adoption, Homelessness & Housing, Health & Well-Being, Immigration Legal Services, Mental Health, Youth Initiatives, and Workforce Development

At the thrift shop, we organized the sales floor, replenished racks with priced clothing, prepared clothing for sale, as well as tested dozens of donated electronic devices. We also donated two boxes of children’s books for younger students to enjoy.

Thank you so much to Samara for coordinating this opportunity, and to Alliston for warmly welcoming us and guiding our tasks. Thank you to Hanna Xue for organizing this event.

We look forward to volunteering again!

Best, William

Hours: Hanna Xue (3 hours), William Tian (3 hours)
