AYLUS Oakland Gardens Helps Out Local Garden (8/4/2024)

AYLUS Oakland Gardens held its 102th event on August 4th, 2024. The event took place at our local community garden, P.S. 390Q. We ripped up the weeds and watered the plants using buckets and hoses.

When we started with the event, we noticed the change in the plants as more and more of them were drying up due to the hot temperature of the summer. We first started with weeding the plants, as the other people were working on untangling the hoses. During this time, the people who were responsible for ripping the weeds also harvested any plants that were ripe and ready to eat. After weed ripping was finished, we switched to watering the flower beds. We made sure to thoroughly wash the plants, using not too little but not too much water.

We have tended to this area for a long time now, helping the community become better and stronger. By doing so, we can strive for better and learn to take responsibility for the better. Although this is true, the hot weather has currently stymied our progress. We hope that once it has gone away, we can continue our goals and achieve success.
