SMILE 4 Special Needs (#164): Pearland Volunteers Taught Bucket Drumming (#16) at GiGi’s Playhouse Sugarland on July 27, 2024

In the morning of July 27, 2024, Pearland volunteers conducted a bucket drumming session for kids with special needs at GiGi’s Playhouse Sugarland. The session included participants of various ages and abilities, including first-timers and those with previous experience. Local youth volunteers, parents, and siblings interested in learning also joined the class. Our volunteers adapted their teaching to accommodate everyone. They began with a quick review of the basic sounds of bucket drumming and then led the “Green, Yellow, and Red” game to introduce rhythm and stop. The group then drummed along to a Disney song. Later, participants took turns leading a pattern while the others followed. After the lesson, the volunteers handed out stickers to the kids.
