On Sunday July 28th, Syosset AYLUS members helped out at a local beach cleanup. Hosted by the town of Hempstead, volunteers headed to Lido beach all trying to contribute to a cleaner environment. Volunteers were asked to grab buckets and a clipboard in order to keep track of common pieces of litter. Right before the hunt for garbage, a few AYLUS members had been invited to speak a little about the mission for News 12. After was an adventure of climbing sand dunes and snatching every bit of trash wherever it could be found. While the beach was relatively clean, volunteers managed to collect at least 20 pounds of trash from the beach.
