Murrieta AYLUS Helps Local Food Bank (55th) (7/5/2024)

Reported by Adora Xiao :

On July 5th, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members helped their local food bank.
The volunteers signed in before starting their work. They first sorted various baked goods like breads and desserts onto various shelves, taking time to unload various vans that arrived with more food. They weighed various carts of produce with vegetables, meat, and more breads, before taking them to respective refrigerators. The volunteers sorted through various produce as well, looking over apples, oranges, various berries, and veggies. The fresh vegetables were sorted into trays as the food bank opened to start giving out food. The volunteers worked to create boxes with various frozen meats, deli foods, salad mixes, and fresh vegetables and fruits. They then topped the boxes with different types of breads and a dessert, before passing the carts outside to be given to the drive by cars. The volunteers created various carts each containing 6 boxes to meet the demands of the arriving cars, before the demand slowly slowed down. Afterwards, the volunteers cleaned up the work stations, wiping down the tables and taking a broom to the floors. After cleanup the volunteers also stored away the breads and produce.
