Murrieta AYLUS Lends a Hand to The Little Garden of Hope Project (30th ) (5/18/2024)

Reported by Hsin Chen(Julie) Lu :

On May 18th, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS worked on the Little Garden of Hope Project. The members met up early at the Home Depot Nursery to buy more plants for their garden. They bought 8 pots of vegetable seedlings and headed over to Jacob’s House. Upon arriving, the members first got to work on removing weeds and overgrown vegetables. They started tilling the garden soil — first removing debris from overhanging trees branches, rocks, and roots left over from old plants, then using shovels to dig up the dirt, and finally mixing in fertilizer before leveling the beds out. After completing these tasks, the members finally got down to planting the seedlings they bought, carefully separating them in each pot before placing them in the newly dug holes. The members thoroughly watered each bed before heading out, leaving the overgrown vegetables and harvested carrots and green onions next to the office for Jacob House to feed horses and distribute to families respectively.
