Throughout 2 weeks preceding February 10th , 2024, Kara Li, Derek Zhu, Edwin Gao, and Tina Dong met up with Shawn Xiao to discuss, plan, write, and refine their script for hosting the 2024 Lunar New Year Gala.
On January 27th and February 3rd , the hosts spent Saturday nights to review the rehearsals to
prepare their scripts. The group met at Derek’s house multiple times to plan the bilingual introductions for each performance, including a final dress rehearsal on-set on February 10 th . The hosts wrote, revised, translated, and printed their script and attached them to notecards for easy access on stage.
Throughout the 2 weeks, introductions were written for all performances, as well as a welcoming skit, interview questions in between some performances, and ending remarks.
On the day of the event, the hosts spent extra time together making necessary revisions to their lines and memorizing necessary information. The event ended in with great success, seeing a record-high attendance and many highly celebrated performances.
