On 1/10/2024, Aylus Great Neck hosted another Scrabble game for students and parents learning English. We met at 4:30PM in the Great Neck Station Branch Library.
We continued to play on the student’s copy of Scrabble. However, this time we did not keep score at all, and we played casually instead. Since our volunteers Ruiqi Liu ,ZiXi Zhang and Kevin Zhang had gotten the idea of the game by this point, we used the dictionary less and used more common words.
During the session, a child nearby walked up and began to play with us. They seemed to know English already, but they likely also helped our student in learning English.
After about an hour, we said our goodbyes and left.
Hours:
Ruiqi Liu – 1 hour
ZiXi Zhang – 1 hour
Kevin Zhang – 1 hour

On 1/14/2024, Aylus Great Neck continued to host its board games for people learning English. Since the library is closed on Sundays, we met again at the apartment complex of one of our volunteers at about 9:00AM.
We played Monopoly this time, and it was a welcome change of pace. Our student learnt mostly from conversations between our two volunteers, Ruiqi Liu and Kevin Zhang.
We needed to cut the game short by the end of an hour, since our game was not anywhere close to ending. We said our goodbyes and left.
Hours:
Ruiqi Liu – 1 hour
Kevin Zhang – 1 hour
