AYLUS RC Branch Volunteers for ALFC Generosity Center on 06/24/2023
On June 24, 2023, the AYLUS RC Branch demonstrated remarkable unity and commitment as 20 members arrived at the ALFC Generosity Center to volunteer. The previous day, the center faced a severe shortage of volunteers, prompting a discussion between the organizers and our branch’s President, Yongxi Hu. It was quickly decided that we could contribute additional members to assist with the food distribution efforts on this day, and President Hu promptly contacted all available volunteers to coordinate this significant response. The organizers were thrilled and deeply appreciative of our quick mobilization.
The 20 volunteers were divided into two groups: one group handled outdoor food distribution, while the other remained indoors to help with food packaging. Despite the scorching heat that characterizes June in LA, our members approached the task with unwavering enthusiasm.
When we gathered at 8:00 AM, the queue of vehicles waiting to receive food was already remarkably long. The adult volunteers took on the responsibility of directing traffic and maintaining order among the vehicles. Our high school volunteers, however, were tasked with loading each vehicle with the various food items allocated to their respective stalls.
The food distribution area was extensive, featuring stalls for vegetables, fruits, meats, bread, beverages, canned goods, and more. Our high school volunteers demonstrated their strength and determination as they tirelessly moved and organized the diverse food items. The number of vehicles seeking assistance was substantial, but our team worked tirelessly for five hours. We packaged food, moved it, and ensured that every vehicle was provided for.
Despite the challenging weather conditions, our collective efforts were successful in distributing 400 portions of food within the five-hour timeframe. Witnessing the joy and gratitude on the faces of those receiving our assistance was a heartwarming reward for our team.
Our commitment to this meaningful activity remains steadfast, and we look forward to continuing our involvement. This experience further reinforces our dedication to serving our community and making a positive impact on the lives of those in need. We are proud to stand together as a united force for good, always ready to lend a helping hand when it’s needed most.
