On Saturday, September 9th, seven students from the Syosset Branch helped raise money and collect food for Long Island Cares. Long Island Cares helps all families all over Long Island to keep them fed. They collect donations of cash and non-perishable items to distribute to the less fortunate families of Long Island. Volunteers are asked to go to certain grocery shopping locations to collect donations and organize them in boxes. Not only did this event test social skills that is used in the real world of volunteers, but many families will be helped because of this event. Rachel Zhang, Aaron Wong, Julie Zhang, Isabella Huang, Sonia Huang, Jianie Huang, and Nichole Huang all went to Stop & Shop to collect items and donations for the greater good of Long Island. Together, over $100 was donated in cash and ten boxes of goods were filled in one shift.
