On February 26th, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., members of the AYLUS San Fernando Valley branch volunteered in the CicLAvia event of The Valley. They worked in two-and-a-half hour shifts across the seven-and-a-half hour long event. Details are listed below.
CicLAvia events have been held across Los Angeles since 2010. They are designed to reconnect residents with their neighbors and community, while supporting local businesses and encouraging healthy outdoor activities. In CicLAvia events, roads are transformed into public parks for people to bike on, walk on, etc.
On the day of CicLAvia, our members:
– Helped with way-finding, slow zones and dismount areas.
– Managed participant traffic at car crossing points.
– Provided participants with route and activity information.
