On December 18th, 2022, three students in Long Island, NY founded the 125th branch of the Alliance of Youth Leaders in the United States (AYLUS): Dix Hills, NY.

Description of the Dix Hills Branch
The AYLUS Dix Hills Branch will be dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of others in a meaningful, impactful and fulfilling way. The volunteer organization will work to engage and recruit members of the community to join in on activities that improve the local area and benefit the people who live there. Members of the volunteer community will be given a valuable opportunity to have places in which community events are organized for them. In addition to helping others, individuals can also benefit by learning new skills, gaining valuable experiences, and meeting new people. This enables participants to broaden their horizons and expand their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. Volunteering often connects those who don’t know each other with similar values and goals. This builds a sense of community and belonging with those with shared goals and aspirations.
Volunteering also has a positive impact on those on the receiving end. It can provide them with much-needed services that they may not be able to obtain elsewhere. For example, volunteering at a soup kitchen can provide food to those who are struggling with hunger. Additionally, volunteering can also have a positive impact on the mental and emotional well-being of those on the receiving end. Receiving help and support from volunteers can boost their self-esteem and make them feel valued and important. It can also provide a sense of connection and community, which can improve their overall quality of life. By providing services and assistance to those in need, volunteers can help to alleviate some of the challenges and burdens faced by the community, such as poverty, social isolation, and lack of access to essential services. The AYLUS Dix Hills Branch hopes to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.
