AYLUS Roslyn helps out at a School of CCA of Long Island (98) on March 8th, 2026

On March 8th, 2026, volunteers from the AYLUS Roslyn branch helped out as teacher assistants at the Chinese Cultural Association of Long Island, starting at 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. During this time, we assisted teachers and helped students with various activities in the classroom.

As teacher assistants, we worked to lighten the teachers’ tasks and keep students interested during lessons. At the beginning of the class, we said hello to the teachers and students and helped everyone get prepared. We handed out worksheets, assisted students in unpacking their bags, and answered their questions whenever they needed help. During the class, we gathered assignments, helped the teacher with lessons, and took students to the restroom when they needed to go.

Volunteering as teacher assistants helped us see the daily responsibilities that teachers manage. Although our tasks were easy, they made the class run better and helped teachers concentrate more on teaching. This experience taught us to be patient, work well together, and take responsibility, all while making a friendly and welcoming space for the students.
