AYLUS Great Neck Branch holds AAPI Event at the Main Library 47th (3/7/26)

On Saturday, March 7th, from 3:45 – 5:00 PM, members of the Great Neck AYLUS branch hosted the AAPI event for kids at the Great Neck Main Library. At the beginning of the session, three volunteers by the names of Amber, Rebecca and Goldman each read a story to the children. The books that were chosen to be read are called “Rainbow Shopping”, “When Cherry Blossoms Fall”, and “Danbi Leads the School Parade”. After reading, volunteers Felicia and Jiangyuan taught kids how to make a turtle out of clay, while Catherine and Goldman taught other enthusiastic children how to make clay mushrooms and butterflies. Others who were less fond of clay-making were shown how to make a bouquet of flowers out of pipe cleaners with Rebecca. Rainie taught children how to make basic chain stitches for crochet. Overall, this event was a fun and engaging experience for both kids and volunteers alike.
