Newtown AYLUS Members Volunteer at Local Nature Center (2)

On Sunday, 3/1/2026, four members of Newtown AYLUS volunteered at the Churchville Nature Center. Located at 501 Churchville Lane, the Churchville Nature Center is an environmental education facility that provides information to the youth community about local wildlife, plants, and weather. They also emphasize conservation, preservation, and environmental consciousness.

Our members helped with the center’s Maple Syrup Day program, which included teaching about the process of making maple syrup and serving breakfast to locals. Members assisted with setup, managed different stations, and welcomed guests. Volunteers helped set up tables and gather ingredients for breakfast preparation. Members then helped guide families through different stations, which included tapping maple trees, collecting sap, and making maple syrup. AYLUS members supported the instructors and made everyone feel welcome. Overall, all members enjoyed their time at the event, working with adults and children to create a memorable experience. Volunteers felt they had positively impacted the community by teaching about the creation of a popular food, while also teaching about the environmental effects.

Members who participated were Ivan Lee (Event Leader) for 3.5 hours, Justin Peng for 3.5 hours, Henry Wang for 5.5 hours, and Ella Huang for 3 hours.
