Murrieta AYLUS Volunteers at Habitat for Humanity Senior House Preservation (#55) (02/14/2026)

On February 14, 2026, Murrieta AYLUS members volunteered with ABWK Habitat for Humanity.

ABWK is a project focuses on helping senior homeowners by painting and refreshing their homes.

The main goal of the project is to support seniors who may not be physically or financially able to maintain their homes on their own. Volunteers help paint exterior or interior areas of senior homes, improving safety, cleanliness, and overall living conditions. This also helps protect homes from weather damage and creates a more comfortable and welcoming environment for the residents.

Through this project, volunteers gain hands-on service experience while making a meaningful impact in the community. It emphasizes teamwork, compassion, and giving back by assisting seniors in maintaining safe and dignified homes.

Upon arrival, the members immediately began helping with the preparation work, including taping the floors, windows, door frames, and stair rails, and placing tarps around the entire house. The supervisors then provided the usual orientation and ladder safety demonstration. The members quickly started working, carefully following the instructions to make sure no spots were missed and that the paint was applied evenly without running. After finishing painting the house, they also painted the shed in the backyard. During the mandatory break, the members helped prepare Valentine’s gifts for the volunteers. At the end of the day, each volunteer received a small box of chocolates and a rose in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
