AYLUS Roslyn Provides Food to Local Families Through NOSH Delivers Food Pantry (115th) on February 19, 2026

On Thursday, February 19th, the AYLUS Roslyn Branch worked with the NOSH Delivers organization from 9 to 1 P.M. NOSH Delivers is a non-profit organization that supplies food to 1500 neighbors and 500 families in New York. Founded in March of 2020, NOSH’s mission is to assist families with insufficient food and supplies, and was originally formed to combat food insecurity during the pandemic. During our session, we broke down boxes, packaged items, unloaded deliveries from NOSH’s drivers, and sorted items on the shelves. In addition, we helped to move boxes filled with various consumables (e.g. mixed vegetables, peas, snacks), restocked/resorted items on the shelves, helped families to pick up their groceries, and packed snacks into paper bags. As a result, we helped to ensure the nutrition and nourishment of multiple families across Nassau County. However, our success was also followed by some challenges. For example, some of us were distracted by devices or boredom, which lowered our efficiency and capabilities to work in this environment. While these things may have decreased our potential, we pulled through and managed to complete our four hour shift at NOSH. It is important to quickly learn from demonstrations/experience and willingly cooperate with staff or other volunteers to complete tasks, since most tasks at NOSH require teamwork and collaboration of efficiency. For instance, my experiences at NOSH Delivers have taught me that cooperation is crucial to getting things done, allowing us to be more productive and capable.
