Teacher Assistance at Huagen Chinese School

On Sunday, February 15th, 2026, AYLUS Gainesville Branch volunteers Jalen Zheng and Logan Wu participated in teacher assistance activities at Huagen Chinese School. The volunteers contributed their time and effort to support younger students and teachers through classroom assistance and educational engagement.

1st Grade  Teacher Assistance

Time: 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM
Location: Huagen Chinese School

During this session, Jalen Zheng and Logan Wu assisted the 1st grade teacher in managing classroom activities and supporting students’ learning. Their responsibilities included helping students stay focused, answering questions, distributing materials, and guiding students through their classroom exercises.

The volunteers also helped maintain a positive and organized learning environment, ensuring that students remained engaged and comfortable. By providing individual attention and encouragement, they helped students build confidence and develop stronger learning habits.

Paper Craft II Class Teacher Assistance

Time: 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Location: Huagen Chinese School

Later in the afternoon, Jalen Zheng and Logan Wu assisted teachers in the Paper Craft II class. They helped distribute materials, demonstrated steps of the craft activities, and provided guidance to students who needed additional support.

The volunteers encouraged creativity and patience among the students, helping them complete their handcraft projects successfully. Their assistance ensured the class ran smoothly and allowed the teacher to focus on instruction while students received individualized support.

Impact and Reflection

Through these volunteer activities, Jalen Zheng and Logan Wu contributed to the educational development of younger students and supported teachers in creating a productive classroom environment. Their participation helped improve classroom efficiency, provided valuable mentorship to students, and strengthened the sense of community within Huagen Chinese School.

This experience also allowed the volunteers to develop leadership, responsibility, and communication skills while making a meaningful contribution to their community.
