Members of the AYLUS San Clemente Branch Volunteered at Mercy’s Warehouse (#9) on 1/25/26

On Sunday, January 25, 2026, three individuals (Melvin Jiang, Tylon Zhou, and
Shuqi Hu) from the San Clemente branch helped as volunteers at Mercy
Warehouse, Laguna Niguel by organizing, sorting, and hanging clothes.

Our job was to fill racks up with hanged clothes, which we had to organize and
sort from a large pile. Tylon Zhou’s job was to grab clothes from the pile, and sort
them according to gender; Melvin Jiang’s job was to put a hanger or clip on the
respective clothing, while Shuqi Hu’s job was to hang the clothes on the rack,
and keeping it organized. At the end of our shift, we hung about 16 racks full of
clothes. Our impact was helping the Mercy Warehouse be more productive and
efficient with its donated inventory, which definitely helped the workers save a
large sum of time, allowing them to put out racks of already organized clothes
to customers. Some obstacles we encountered were dirty clothes, which we
easily bypassed with gloves and masks. Though the work is easy, it’s extremely
tedious and requires long term commitment and focus, which we embodied.
Through volunteering at Mercy Warehouse, we learned the valuable lesson of
being efficient with our work, and how spending just a few hours of our time can
help others massively.

Members who participated include: Melvin Jiang (3 hours), Tylon Zhou (3 hours), Shuqi Hu (2.5 hours)
