On February 8th, from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm, AYLUS volunteers helped out at the Long Island Chinese School to celebrate Lunar New Year. When volunteers first arrived, they helped distribute lunches, fix the stage, and sort people to their seats for the big show. Notable acts included class dances, singing, and speeches for a cultural celebration.
After the show, volunteers distributed some snacks, chips, and oranges to parents, students, and teachers. Around 4:00 pm, after the majority of the attendees had left, AYLUS volunteers helped clean up the mess hall. Table clothes were thrown out, pieces of food were swept off the ground, and tables were folded up. Overall, with the help of AYLUS volunteers the Lunar New Year show was a success where students, parents, and teachers enjoyed a clean, safe environment to welcome the New Year.
