AYLUS Basking Ridge held Tech Support program at Ridge Oak Senior Center on 2/2/26

AYLUS Basking Ridge held a Tech Support Program at Ridge Oak Center on 2/2/26. Today our members taught a senior how to fix messages that were not sending in messages. The volunteer helped to solve this by removing malware which had blocked messages. There was also another question on how to fix “Hard Drive SMART Test “failing”” which the volunteer responded by telling the senior that they need to get a new hard drive as the current one is broken. A senior also had issues with how to get GPS on the phone which can be solved by installing Google Maps on the app store. Finally there was a question on how to use the microphone to prompt google maps. The volunteer realized that the microphone was broken and needed to be fixed.

Although on the service level, it seems as though our volunteers only help with technology, this is not the case. By helping seniors with technology, they begin to feel a deeper connection with the modern age of technology. Our volunteers also talked and gained a deeper sense of what it means to be part of a community through volunteering.
