Weekend Scratch Coaching

Huagen Chinese School at Oaks Hall School on Sundays offer Chinese classes as well as other
classes open to all community members. The in-person class is 1 hour long. AYLUS member
Eric Gao, Garrick Wu, Qi Chu are volunteers and provided hands-on instruction for students
ranging from 3rd grade to middle school, introducing them to the fundamentals of scratch
coding.
On Sunday, Jan 25, 2026, Eric Gao, Garrick Wu and Qi Chu volunteered at Huagen Chinese
School to teach scratch class again. During this session, the volunteers delivered prepared
lessons, gave exercises, and assigned projects and homework. During the class time, the
participants enjoyed their group work and exercises, and the volunteers provided feedback
to their class work.
This weekly program continues to promote coding skills, critical thinking, and confidence in
problem solving. It offers a great educational opportunity to the community kids.
