AYLUS Great Neck Branch holds Chinese Lunar New Year Event at the Main Library 1/31

On January 31st, 2026, the Great Neck ALYUS Branch assisted in the Great Neck Library’s Chinese New Year event. With over a dozen members present, ALYUS members and volunteers set up and ran various arts and craft stations as part of a series of events hosted by the library.

Ranging from painting to paper cutting, ALYUS volunteers were able to provide a fantastic experience to the many visitors who were enjoying the library’s various events. Many volunteers were split into groups, running individual stations for passerbys and library-goers.

From set-up to clean-ups, the volunteers were hard at work. Some were there to assist and teach, with members teaching about the techniques and traditions of calligraphy. Others there were full-hands on, running and making each station possible, exemplified in the handful of members who got their hands dirty (and sticky) with the candy-making station. Either way, members show dedication, skillfulness, and a level of leadership in order to make this entire event possible.
