From 6:00 to 7:00 PM, on January 22nd, 2026, six volunteers gave their time to help younger students with their academic needs. Present were Brian Zhang, Jason Zeng, Brendan Chen, Summer Lu, Junlin Yu, and Xing Zhi Li. Today was a very mathy day for the tutees, with many students working on fractional numbers. In particular, Xingzhi helped a fourth grader with converting fractions to mixed numbers and vice-versa, assisting her with using a math app. Summer helped a fifth grader with subtracting decimals while they bonded over academic lingo. Similarly, Junlin also supported a fifth grader on fractions and decimals, including division. Together, they completed their problem packet. There was also quite a bit of English work — Jason helped an eighth grader with reading, teaching her new vocabulary. Brian and Brendan also studied and aided a fifth grader on the parts of speech. Everyone was able to involve themselves and contribute, strengthening the tutees’ knowledge but also their friendship.
