AYLUS Great Neck Branch volunteers for Great Neck Park District (53rd) 12/21/25

On December 21st, 2025, the Great Neck Branch of AYLUS volunteered at Kings Point Park to help remove plant litter and fallen leaves from the trails. Our many volunteers worked hard at smoothing out the trails for visitors using rakes and shovels. We have stayed consistent to this job, doing this for many weeks now, and it is very rewarding to see how the visitors appreciate it. It is quite important to remove leaves and sticks off the trails because the staff of the park have to drive their vehicle on the pathways, and the visitors can perhaps trip or slip on the debris.

On a more serious note, our volunteers also kept an eye out for a missing grandmother, last seen on December 16th. While we were unable to locate her today, we hope that she is found quickly and safely.

Overall, this program has been a great experience to learn to work together as a team, as well as spend time in nature. It’s a really great way to enjoy the outdoors and contribute back to the community. This was our last event for 2025, and we hope to continue doing an amazing job next year! We’lll continue to work hard on this project to make the parks better for everyone, as the mission of AYLUS is to serve the community through practical projects and providing help to people.
