On Saturday, December 20, the Roslyn AYLUS Branch finished its used battery collection by dropping off all the batteries at Staples. This project was a small but important way for us to help the environment and make sure harmful waste was recycled properly.
Throughout the battery drive, members collected used household batteries from their own homes and from friends and family. Instead of throwing them away, everyone saved their batteries so they could be recycled safely. It was a simple action, but one that helps keep dangerous materials out of landfills and protects the planet.
The batteries were dropped off at Staples at 1410 Northern Boulevard in Manhasset, New York. Staples works with recycling programs that handle batteries the right way, which made it a great place to complete our drive. This drop-off officially wrapped up the battery collection, which is due on November 16, 2025.
This project gave everyone a chance to think more about how everyday habits affect the environment. It was really nice to see how many people were willing to help and be part of something positive. Working together made the experience feel meaningful and encouraging.
