On December 6th, 2025, AYLUS Great Neck Branch attended the Lights and Ice annual event at the Great Neck Firefighter Park. The Lights and Ice event is said to bring families together, involving a farmers market, bouncy castles, music and much more! Members of AYLUS sold assortments of crocheted goods like cute plushies and handy pockets to store keys/cell phones, bracelets, earrings and other items. Talented AYLUS volunteers also crafted balloon animals and painted on children’s faces per their requests. All the profits from the farmers market go to a nonprofit organization set on improving education for the disadvantaged students. Others wore costumes of beloved cartoon characters like Olaf, Gingerbread man to entertain the children that came to the event. Giving the families visiting a great time. Lastly, other members assisted with the attractions like bouncy castles and riding on a moose! Maintaining lines for the attractions and keeping the safety regulations in check, so they won’t hurt themselves. Some even helped with putting the children onto the rides so they can have a good time too. Overall it was a successful day as AYLUS raised money for a great cause but also warmed the hearts of many children’s.
