On Sunday, November 30th, 2025, from 9 am to 1 pm, AYLUS Oakland Gardens Branch held its 207th event at the Olde Towne of Flushing Burial Ground. Under the guidance of Roxanna, we were assigned to spread mulch and rake leaves.
The mulch was in piles already by the time we got there, thanks to Roxana and the park rangers. The members went to receive tools such as shovels and rakes from the truck. Groups of boys were assigned to shovel mulch into wheelbarrows and trash bags to move and spread the mulch into the garden beds. The other members were assigned to rake fallen leaves and put them into recyclable bags. Once the groups assigned to mulching were done, they helped to finish raking the leaves.
At the end of the event, there were 110 bags of leaves. Members wrapped the event up by throwing the bags into the trash truck. The park was cleaned up and its beauty was ready to be enjoyed by the community. We would like to thank Roxanna and the park rangers for allowing us the opportunity to help and make a positive impact on our community. Additionally, thank you to members of AYLUS for making the event a success.
