On December 1st, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, volunteers from the AYLUS Great Neck Branch met at the Great Neck House for the Accessible Art Program. Volunteering for this program, we helped special-needs children explore their creativity and imagination through art. This week, we continued a painting project from last week. Adding paper, glue, and clay for decorations on our artworks, we all put in effort and ended up with many colorful, expressive paintings. We enjoyed ourselves, and everyone did a great job. We laughed and talked like we were family, even though some of us were meeting each other for the first time. Experiences like this reminded us how wholesome and meaningful it is to help others in need.
This program has been a wonderful opportunity for us to use our passion for art to support and uplift these children. Through this experience, we learn to be patient, empathetic, and encouraging as we guide them in expressing themselves. We saw how art can help us build confidence, spark joy, and create connection.
We will continue to dedicate ourselves to this program and to AYLUS’s mission, serving the community through hands-on projects that bring care, support, and opportunities to those who need them most.
