The African Library Project (ALP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting literacy and education across Africa by creating and improving small libraries in underserved communities. Through partnerships with schools, volunteers, and book drive organizers, ALP collects gently used books and helps establish sustainable libraries that spark a lifelong love of reading. Their mission empowers students, supports teachers, and strengthens communities—one library at a time.
Our Morrisville Branch has hosted multiple book drives to support global literacy, working with community members to collect hundreds of gently used books. Thanks to these efforts, the branch was able to sort, pack, and ship books to Uganda, helping to establish new learning opportunities for students and families. Through these drives, our Morrisville Branch continues to make a meaningful impact—one book at a time.
In total, we collected 2236 books and supported four libraries in Uganda. There are:
HAI-TEC Empowerment Initiative and Library
Amokoge Primary School Library
The Tsuri International Christian School Library
Hade Community Library
